Do you have any comments on the revised Part 5 of the SPD?

Lambeth is missing out as a borough in only permitting basement parameters within original structure. With Wandsworth permitting far more I feel local business and opportunity is lost as cost of build is often not worth it for such few m2. As a resident who want to invest in expanding my homes through a basement I feel restricted and ponder why I can’t have the same agency as those owning homes in neighbouring Wandsworth. I feel Lambeth is shooting itself in the foot in this respect and will loose home owners to Wandsworth.

Do you have any comments on the revised Part 5 of the SPD?

The previous SPD had one page attributed to Basements and that was mainly focussed on design. The much expanded section (46 pages)as well as design (5 pages) also focusses on the importance of sustainability, the differing geology of Lambeth, neighbour consultation, construction impact and party wall awards. This is to be welcomed. The only comments the society wishes to make relate to section 5.5 which is incomplete, and the fact that the illustrations to the design section are less comprehensive than in the previous SPD and it would be helpful if they could all be included.
